Nigerian hip-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been refused bail by the Ogun State High Court in Ota after he was arraigned on multiple criminal charges.
The singer was arraigned before court on a nine-count charge including assault, theft, causing bodily harm, resisting arrest, and other related offenses.
The case stems from a New Year’s Day incident at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State, where he allegedly attacked his estranged partner (actress/skit maker Ashabi Simple), police officers, and others.
Bail was denied because the police officer who he was alleged to have assaulted was not present in court, something the judge said was necessary before ruling on bail.
Bail application hearing has been adjourned to January 19, 2026, keeping the hip-hop artist in custody.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arraignment and remand, and further investigations are ongoing.
