Actor and model Mario Rodriguez has filed a civil lawsuit accusing filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry of sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Rodriguez, who appeared in Tyler Perry’s 2016 film *Boo! A Madea Halloween, filed the civil lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court, in which he alleges multiple instances of unwanted sexual advances between roughly 2014 and 2019, including at Perry’s Los Angeles home.
The complaint claims Tyler Perry used his influence and opportunities in entertainment to initiate contact under the guise of discussing work and promised roles in exchange for compliance.
Rodriguez alleges that Perry touched him inappropriately and made unwanted physical contact, including an incident in November 2018 where Perry allegedly “grabbed [his] penis,” which Rodriguez says he repeatedly told Perry to stop.
The lawsuit also claims that Perry offered Rodriguez substantial cash following some of the alleged encounters. * Rodriguez is seeking **at least $77 million in damages from Perry. Also named in the lawsuit is the film’s distributor, Lionsgate, alleging it failed to address the alleged misconduct.
This lawsuit is the second major sexual assault–related lawsuit filed against Tyler Perry in 2025. Actor Derek Dixon sued Perry earlier in the year, alleging similar coercive behavior during their professional interactions on projects.
Tyler Perry has denied the new claims, stating the allegations as unfounded. No criminal charges have been reported at this time; the matter is proceeding in civil court.
The lawsuits has drawn significant attention due to Perry’s high profile as a filmmaker, producer, and studio owner, and has sparked renewed discussion about alleged power imbalances in the entertainment industry.
