Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.
Ogogo, 66, died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after battling stage-four cancer.
He was buried on Monday, August 24, in accordance with Islamic rites, following funeral prayers at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro.
Prominent Nollywood figures including Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Mr Latin, Ireti Osayemi and Toyosi Adesanya attended to honour the Yoruba cinema veteran.
The farewell was deeply emotional, with longtime friend and colleague Yinka Quadri reportedly breaking down in tears during the burial.
Reports say Ogogo was laid to rest beside his mother’s grave, bringing to a close a career spanning more than four decades in Yoruba-language cinema.
The burial marked an emotional farewell to one of the most recognisable figures in Nigeria’s Yoruba film industry.
